Hello All,

Is this National Curmudgeon Day?

If it's not guys complaining about rebated items, it's guys complaining
about the complaints!

I am typing this email on a computer that I assembled last year. Virtually
every part in the computer had a rebate and most had free shipping.

Not only was EVERY rebate paid exactly as advertised, I compared EACH and
EVERY price thoroughly to all others in order to arrive at the lowest FINAL
cost.

In fact, I am to the point that I almost will not buy an item without a
mail-in or instant rebate. Why? Because I don't like paying retail and then
finding I could have saved $30 if I had waited a week or two.

Sure, rebates can be problematic. But, I find that, if you follow the
instructions, TO-THE-LETTER, you'll get the rebate. It won't arrive the next day
or the next week but you'll get it. At least, that's been my experience. Be
sure to copy all documents in case you have a problem. I have a folder full
of such documents but have never needed them.

And, yes, I take "free" shipping with a grain of salt. But, when that
"free" shipping results in the lowest delivered cost, what would you expect me to
do - Turn it down and pay more? That's not gonna happen!

If you can't follow instructions in a timely manner or if you have a phobia
for "free" shipping, then, by all means avoid items that offer those
savings. But, based on my experience, you'll find your wallet a bit thinner and, I
suspect, you'll be a bit less happy than you might have been . . . Well,
based on the posts in this thread, anyway!

If you've gotten this far, please note that this is my last word on this
subect.

Regards,

Bill
