Here's one for you military radio afficianados. I was underneath one of my benches trying to retrieve a knob that had come loose and fallen off my antenna switch when I came across an AN/VRC-51 radio set. The plaque on the top of the cover says Navy Department, Bureau of Ships. Another label identifies it as CY-316.VRC-51.
I remember these from back in the 60s when MARS was issuing them to members. As I remember, they were 2 meter capable or convertable.
I dont have the control head. I opened the case and inside it is very very clean. Everything is in there that should be, as far as I can see.
Anyhow ... I'm in a shack downsizing mode, and I'm willing to let it go. Probably be a good unit for those of you who are military radio fans.
Make me a reasonable offer which includes shipping. Just holding it in my hands, I'd say it probably weights about 10 pounds give or take.
Those of you in the know .... maybe you can refresh memories on what band it covers, power output, etc .. I'd be interested in refreshing my memory on them. They were highly prize by MARS members back in the 60s I know.
