[ForSale-Swap] Any vintage BC swap groups or sites?

Its a very friendly group once you actually get involved. Doc only uses it
for the Classifieds section and probably misses most of the discussion and
restoration forums on ARF.

Several threads have been locked when it becomes obvious that the sole
purpose is to get prices and then head off to Ebay. Asking about one radio
seldom raises hackles, its the " I have 20 radios and I need their values"
type of posts that get members upset.

Speaking of Ebay it is a superior platform for establishing worth by
searching completed auctions for that model. You can protect yourself by
setting a reserve but many refuse to bid on those or will try to lowball you
in an email. It takes a bit of experimenting and practice even with
desireable items. The way you present the radio in photographs and write the
description is very important.

Many 50's table radios are highly collectible. Consoles with phonographs are
usually not listed as they arent of interest to most and shipping is high.
There is very little from the 60's of interest to anybody and even some
great performers go begging. The Zenith AM/FM stereo MJ-1035 table radio is
an example; mine was a freebie, complete with the outboard 2nd speaker and
after minor work it is an outstanding daily driver.

Craigslist may be your best bet for heavy items. With the poor economy the
buyers are fewer and prices way down so you may have to experiment a bit
with pricing.

If you find that you have several valuable items it might be best to search
out a local auctioneer. Packing, shipping damage, complaints, etc can get
old real fast.

Radioattic http://www.radioattic.com/ is a good on line place to get some
sense of value of collectibles but I dont know if they have much listed in
the 50-60's.

Good luck.
