Guys and gals ...

I'm looking for a two meter or 440 single band handheld, or a dual band hand held for my son in law.

He and my daughter have kind of had a hard time the last year or so. My daughter became unable to work when she came down with a medical problem. My son in law, a licensed ham, has operated on UHF and VHF for a long time and had a dual band hand held. That's all he's ever been able to afford.
However, one day at work, he left it and his lunch box on the tailgate of his work truck and drove off. Needless to say, it has been gone for good.

Because of my daughter's illness, she has been unable to work and they have run into financial difficulties and frankly, may lose their house because of medical bills. So, he has been unable to replace the hand held. I told him when they moved into their home about a year ago that I had some extra tower sections and when we could find time, we would put up a tower at his home and get him some good two meter/440 antennas so he could have a real shack.

I'd like to get a hand held (that I can afford), to give to him so he can again enjoy ham radio again during these difficult times. Then, when we get everything else stabalized, we'll look at getting that tower up for him.

If any of you have a hand held that you're looking to sell, let me know ... I'll see if I can swing it and buy it from you for him.

I'd also consider a mobile rig, but I think a handheld would be best so he can again carry it with him while working.

Thanks ...
