A few years ago I picked up a nice one, don't remember the model number.
Worked great. Until the day it didn't work. Popped the covers off, fuse OK.
Some low voltage points were clearly marked, so decided to start checking
voltages. Grabbed the Fluke 77 and started troubleshooting. The meter went
into orbit, spun crashed and burned. Got out the old trusty VTVM and
discovered I had over 1 kv on a 40 vdc line. They used a single power
transformer that delivered everything from LVAC for the tube fils to HV for
the CRT. Manual isn't much help here. The transformer was leaking between
windings.
Finale: The scope went to scrap, the VTVM went back to the factory.
