Well guys, it cannot be fixed. I got the bad news today from Eldad.
The analog meter movement is not just sick, it is dead. The armature
winding is open. I am now in need of a replacement movement. It has
been determined that it is a 200ua DC movement and is commonly used in
other Heathkit test meters. I have a pic of the original which I can
send if anyone needs it.
If anyone has a movement that they wish to sell and has been tested
ok, please let me know. First I will try to use the same meter housing
and will just replace the movement if possible before I consider one
that requires a custom designed face to put in a complete meter made
for other equipment.
I know that the needle should be the same length as the original but I
am willing to trim one that is too long even though it will affect
accuracy because the weight of the needle is part of the design. Just
a little trimming should not affect the the accuracy too severely.
