[ForSale-Swap] Getting screwed via ebay

I have had a total of 3 deals that required foolw up when dealing with a
crrok.
1. Never received the item (TS-940S) He sold the same item to 3 people.
2. Item described as pristine. (Stripped chassis with no tubes or
transformers)
3. Nver received the item despite much email, promises that it was sent, no
tracking number, etc.
Each deal was solved the same way. I contacted the sellers sheriff's dept
and spoke with an investigator dealing with this type of problem. I
supplied him with a copy of all records (email, ad, transcript of all phone
calls, paypal records, copy of cashier checks, etc.) This is what made the
difference as when the investigator knocked on their door they were well
prepared to counter any story offered as an excuse. 2 of the guys paid up on
the spot and the other set up payments through the sheriff's dept till the
money was reimbursed.
It's a real problem but the seller fully exspects the buyer to roll over not
wanting to have to go through all the problems of going after your money.
They feel distance is their protection. Every deal I make, I require tohe
seller to provide me with a contact number and address BEFORE the deal is
made. I then use that info to contact the seller to get a feeling of who
this guy is and whether he is trust worthy or not.
It's going to get worse before it gets better so you need to set yourself up
to protect yourself in these matters and follow through if need be.
Just my 2cents based on my experiences.
