OK folks ... there's been a lot of discussion about this and I appreciate your comments, I really do. Friends can agree to disagree and remain friends, and I hope we can do that in this case.
That being said, I find it interesting that of all those who think that I got such a great deal (and maybe wish they had gotten such a sweet deal) none of them have thought it was such a great deal that they would step forward and take the unit themselves. If it's such a great deal, how can anyone else pass it up when I'm basically offering it for the "great deal" price that I got it for? And especially when I'm willing to take a loss by not ending up with what I paid in total because I'm going to take the shipping costs out of what I paid for the unit so that it can find a good home.
That's just idle curiousity on my part. The main thing is to me is that ... right or wrong .. I didnt get what I wanted. Maybe it was or wasnt as advertised and maybe I did or didnt pay enough attention and check it out as well as I should have before buying it. We can agree to disagree on that. Where I am now is that I feel that with all my other projects and rebuilding the shack, this is an inopportune time to be adding another to the list. I was hoping for a rig that would be usable when I got it. Naive or not .. that's what I was looking for.
So, if no one thinks the deal was good enough that they want to step in ... then once again I say .. If youre looking for parts, let me know. I'll start scrapping it. Perhaps the modulation transformer and choke can be used in an Apache or DX 100 ... and other parts for other rigs.
Before anyone gasps in horror ... there is precedence here for this action. I once wrote to a member here BEGGING him not to scrap out what he said was a great condition and perfectly operating SB 220 rig because he didnt want to ship it. I offered to pay whatever shipping costs and packing costs there would be, but to no avail. He scrapped it out. Sometimes there just isnt time enough to do what you want to do or what you might ordinarily do.
So, let me know what you need....
Thanks again group... youre the greatest.
