I need some information on a Icom 720a. I know it was 1980 era, anyone have
one, likes, dislikes? Ham says he has a MFJ 901 tuner to go with it, also the
speaker goes it with. Please advise via email.

Hi, I don't have that exact model among my Icoms, but radios of this vintage
have 2 problems:

1. caps. Icom used a lot of trimmers and electrolytics that did not age well.
2. encoders. Lots of problems with dial knob encoders. The problem is, that
the parts are no longer available. Fortunately, guys like Scott Malcolm at MTS
has some parts rigs. I would suggest you ask him (or anyone on the Icom
site) for advise.
