For those who may be wondering what an artificial ground is, these words from the Instruction Manual may be helpful:

"The MFJ-931 creates an artificial ground with a random length of wire thrown on the floor.  This produces a tune counterpoise.  Also, the MFJ-931 will electrically place a faraway RF ground directly at our rig."

Not great literature, I guess, but that's MFJ for 'ya!
