Good Evening:
I have a few items for sale. I sold a few items over the last 2 weeks, and
now I want to add a some more. Great deals to be had..........
1. COLLINS KWM380. Has Kiron chip, factory keypad, CW filter and NB. Gone
through by W6IRD. Plays like a late S/N radio. Works well. I can demo on
the air SSB or CW, no problemo. A real stand-up radio. I will include some
spare parts (stuff that I picked on ebay/at hamfests, etc) with your
purchase. Don't miss this chance of picking up a terrific trouble-free
radio that you can use daily and have as the cornerstone of your Collins
collection.
2. COLLINS 399B5. A most unusual unit. Basically, it is a 399B5 that was
re-engineered at the factory for a short government contract, possibly for
the CIA or US military. The contract called for a piston-type trimmer to be
placed on each of the 4 crystal positions. That way the end user can net a
crystal exactly to a specified frequency if the crystal was out of spec. I
am absolutely convinced that this wasn't a home brew by looking at the
placement of the caps, the quality of the caps, the soldering, etc. I have
no documentation on this, but rather the word of a former Collins employee
that was in the know about such things. This is something for the advanced
collector or user. I've never seen another one that look like it. Unusual
pieces like this don't come by all that often!
3. COLLINS CU737 Tuner/SWR bridge. Part of one of their large rack mounted
transmitters. The tuner has knobs similar to the KWM-1, and a 24 volt power
supply (I assume to power up the autotune functions). I bought it at a fest
as a fluke, I was in pack-rat mode! Never used it, but I don't doubt that it
works just fine.
4. JOHNSON 500. Is sold! About 17 people wanted it and one got it!
5. RF COMMUNICATIONS RF-302 TUNER. Works OK. However the turns counter on
the loading control is frozen. No time to fix it. Was a Viet Nam Veteran
according to the former owner.
6. HP606A GENERATOR. is sold as well!
7. MANY MANY NOS TUBES for the S-Line. Too many to list. Advise your wants.
NO 6146's/811A's, no ballasts, no 26Z5's. Have 7/9pin tubes (a bunch of
6BA6's, other odds and ends. I also have a good selection of tested pulls.
Inquire.
8. B&W L-1000 amplifier. An unusual piece as it was sold as an RF deck only
or with factory supply. Real hams in the 50's rolled their own supplies as
the former owner of this amp did. And what a supply it is!!! At the time the
former owner bought NEW broadcast iron, choke, caps. He spared no expense
building this rig. Huge over sized rectifier tubes that glow purple when
energized, the whole bit. While the amplifier is not Collins, it will work
fine with your Collins transmitters. It will need a little cleaning and
TLC, but not out of the capabilities of a typical Collins Collector. B&W
gear is fast becoming popular with collectors and users. Get in on the
ground floor on an item that has great potential for value in the short
term, and can complement your Collins stuff!
9. COLLINS 270G2 SPEAKER. This speaker is probably NEW IN THE BOX! Here's
the story: I bought the speaker at Radio Recyclers in Milwaukee back in
1997. It came in an open box. When I bought it, I guess that I was in the
right place at the right time. The owner (Neil) put it on the shelf 5
minutes before I got there. If I got there 10 minutes later it would have
been sold. The guy who got there when I was paying Neil was furious that he
missed this gem! The green inspection tag is still attached to the brown
zip cord. The cabinet is pristine. The flocking is original and is darker
than the current day flocking (like Mort Jones does). I won't swear to it
being unused, but the circumstantial evidence strongly suggests that if it
isn't new, it sure as heck wasn't used much and was stored in it's box for
decades. In 30 years I have never seen a G2 like this and in the box yet.
Destined for the serious collector of A-Line gear.
I'll ship items 1,2,3,5,7, and 9. The L-1000 is absolutely pickup only.
Bring cash and your truck.
