Re: Grid-Dip Meter Rebuild

Greetings All,

Well the response was more than I hoped for. But I believe some have
misinterpreted my question and plan. I do own three of the Millen 90651
Grid-Dip meters, one is what I would call a show piece, one is well worn
but is fully operational, the third is a total basket case.

I believe that test equipment is to be used and not to sit in some
display case or shelf to be looked at. With that in mind, it is my
intention to bring a fine piece of equipment back to life by using the
major components and adding some new technology. After all as it is now
what I have is a poor looking GDO that is totally non-functional and that
serves no purposes. I would never take a fully functional piece of test
gear and do any thing that would degrade it. Even through some has said I
should buy a newer solid state unit. I could, but that would defeat the
whole learning process. By rebuilding this GDO to a solid state type I
can learn and when done I will have keep a piece of radio history from
the scrape yard. I have taken all the responses and have replied to a
few. I be leave that the course of action I plan is sound and will make
this a nice addition to my workbench. Thank you all for your responses
both Pro and Con.
