You know, I see this statement often. I've never understood why because it 
just isn't accurate. So, why does it continue to appear? It's easily disproven 
by reading any of the warranties that came with the items listed. And, even if 
taken only in the context of used merchandise, it is still not true because 
many sellers offer a warranty on used items. (See AES for example.)

Additionally, if an item is working, why not be willing to guarantee it to be 
so upon delivery? And, if "as is" means "it's working now and will be upon 
delivery," then why cloud the issue with a tired and inaccurate disclaimer?
