If'n you're a Heath collector (of if you just want a good, old-timey
tube-type o'scope), here's one worthwhile: Heath O-12 "Laboratory
Oscilloscope", has the grey styling of the DX-40 era (50's) with the grey
plastic knobs, dark grey front, grey crinkle cabinet, etc. Measuring HWD
13x8.5x17, weighing 17lbs, it has most of the original Heath tubes, and I
re-newed the weak 6C4 VR. Probably rated 5 cps to 500kc (this was before the
Hertzian wave was discovered - haha), I have the schematic for it (no
manual). Works perfectly - only problem was tarnish/corrosion on tube pins
and sockets, which I cleaned off and used De-Oxit on. No graticule (may
never have had one - I'm not a Heath collector, so don't know)
Front face condx is very nice; cabinet is good - no dents, okay finish. I
used it to test some microphones and their DTMF pads, and ran tests on it
using an RF genny. The O-12 has a better-than-hobby circuit (hence the
"Laboratory" billing) with twin vert. and horiz. amps plus push-pull
deflection-plate drivers, 6J6 sweep oscillator, 6C4 voltage reg., etc.
Don't get me wrong - this is no HP or Tek, but then, for $35 plus shipping,
it doesn't cost like one! More details on request.
Since I collect old tube-type o'scopes and other t.e., I will take trades,
esp. DuMont, Conar, NRI, and 7" scopes of any mfg., plus old AM or CW tx's
like the Heath DX-20/35/40 & equiv (need not be complete or working.) e
