I'm not sure if this technical report would be of interest to anyone
since it's dated Feb 15, 1967. It's a 14 page report published by Jet
Propulsion Labs for NASA entitled, "A Traveling Wave Maser for Deep
Space Communication at 2295 and 2388 MHz". It describes the LNA they
used at that time for the feed of NASA's 210 ft. dish at the Goldstone,
CA tracking station for their Venus & Mars deep space probes. It had an
equivalent input noise temperature of 5 deg Kelvin at the waveguide
interface.

Interesting reading even if the technology is obsolete. I wonder what
the noise temp of modern day PHEMPT's is at S-band?

Asking $8 which includes postage to mail within the US. Will mail to EU
for $10. Any interest?

73,
Bob, K6PF

PS: I obtained this report while working at a summer job at JPL in 1968
between my junior & senior year in college. Had the pleasure of working
on a very small part of the Mariner Mars 1969 deep space probe.
