There is no response to E-mails and we are in the middle of an 
incomplete exchange of funds for gear for which I'd like to have closure.

Perhaps there is an E-mail problem?  Would someone try to contact him 
via E-mail and see if you hear back -- perhaps I need a relay due to 
QRM?  ;-)
