[ForSale-Swap] Need help before they commit me

I am an electronics engineer (retired) with 40+ years of experience, 35
of them in computers, computer programming and hardware design for
computers.
BUT, printers hate me!
I have owned just about every brand of printer ever made, IBM, HP,
Lexmark, Cannon, and the list goes on. BUT I have not yet found a
printer that will print what I want on the first try. I use hundreds of
dollars of paper every year that goes into the trash because printers
wont do what I want.
Does anyone make a printer that actually works....occasionaly....maybe,
sometimes?
Part of the problem is software, of course we are talking about Bill
Gates here. When I have a printer doing the wrong thing....and that's
ALWAYS the way it starts....I can never get it to shut down nor can I
empty the job tray. I usually just shut down the power to the
printer....but that doesn't seem to clear its memory. These things are
diabolical and remember for days with the power turned off and then
start all over again doing the wrong thing when you turn them back on.
If I could just shut the system down and start over I could save most of
my paper, but the most common failure I have is when a printer starts
putting out page after page with only one line on the top (ruins the
paper except for scrap) and of course the pages are coming out up side
down so its not till the third or so page that you realize that there
are too many pages, flip one over and see that they are virtually blank.
I suspect that no printer design engineer ever had to use his own
machine. My view of Hell is that when I die I will be in a room full of
malfunctioning printers with no power cords or on/off switches and an
endless supply of paper.
