1. I need a PCMCIA modem that works reliably with Linux, esp. Redhat9 on
my laptop. (I tire of hours spent trying to get supposedly
Linux-compatible hardware to play nicely together.)
This is supposed to be a reliable list:
http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/ftp/SUPPORTED.CARDS
If you like classics I have a working Tandy 1100FD laptop I'd be willing
to swap, and will include a Ham accessory for the right modem-nic.
2. I am also interested in wireless nic hardware, also Linux friendly,
and have a working older Toshiba Satellite T2105CS laptop I could swap
for that. (I need one nic to have an external antenna connector for
experimentation with long-distance links. I'd like to get into Ham
activities with wireless Internet on 2.4 or 5.6GHz.)
3. I'd be willing to swap three laptops and a complete desktop setup
(cpu box, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.) for a 400MHz (min.)
laptop loaded with Redhat9 or SuSE Pro9 and dual-booted with Win98 with
all devices working (esp. incl. internal modem & nic, or bypassed with
included pcmcia devices).
[Laptops: Tandy 1100FD, Toshiba Satellite T2105CS, Tadpole 1300G.
Desktop: 233MHz cpu and usual desktop features]
How's that for horsetrading?!
Thanks! & 73, doc kd4e
