I just inherited a Heathkit Seneca Model VHF-1 xmtr fm a neighbor who is
moving. This is a xtal controlled 2m & 6m CW & AM xmtr. Not sure what
it's worth. Didn't find any others listed on QTH.COM & not much
activity on a couple on eBay. If anyone is familiar with this xmtr
could give me idea of price or is interested in it for parts or to
restore, pse let me know. Here's a description I what I observed:

First, thr is no manual, mic or xtals with it. Thr appears to be 3
tubes missing - the 2 used in the final amp & an octal based tube in the
far left rear corner of the chassis behind the pwr xfmr. Also, the OA2
tube looks bad (air leak? since it's white on the top). It's dirty
inside & out & needs a gud cleaning but the front panel & cabinet look
to be in gud shape. Looks like it should clean up easily. Didn't
notice any dents in either & the cabinet looks like it's made of copper
& quite heavy. Wow, what a nice cabinet! Maybe a couple of small paint
chips off the cabinet. The knobs are dirty & may or may not clean up
well. The meter & dial scale look to be in gud condx. The bottom cover
plate for the small chassis housing the osc/buffer/multiplier stages is
missing as is the cover plate for the 2E26 driver. On top, the cover
plate of the top & back side of the final amp is missing. All of the
front panel controls seem to work except the band switch doesn't go into
the 6m position & the buffer tuning cap must hv a slightly bent shaft
since it appears to be out of round. Besides the 2 final amp tubes
missing, thr are 4 bare wires sticking up fm the band switch wafer in
the final amp compartment so not sure what else is missing thr since I
don't hv a schematic.

Otherwise, everything else looks like it's thr & appears to be in gud
condx. However, I cannot say what else is missing or what it will need
to get working. It's heavy. Think one on eBay said it weighs abt 50
lbs before packing it for shipping.

Agn, if anyone reading this can give me an idea of what it's worth based
on this description, I would be grateful. Also, if anyone is interested
in it for either parts or to restore, I would encourage you to make me a
"reasonable" offer. I will double box it & charge for packing material.
Shipping costs via UPS fm zip 92708 (Southern Calif.) is extra.

Tnx for reading this & 73,
Bob, K6PF
