I hv for sale a used US Tower MD-75 Heavy Duty Motorized Winch for
raising a tower. It's part of a 70cm EME system that I purchased & I
won't be using it. I hv two 12 VDC winches for my 2m eme tower & will
put one of the same kind on my 70cm eme tower. This motorized winch was
mounted on a US Tower for abt 10-12 years. I hv 2 photos of it taken at
the previous owner's QTH that I can scan into my computer & email you if
interested.
Here's what is included:
1 HP, 1725 RPM, 115/230 VAC motor
HUB City 50:1 ratio gear box
winch with mounting bracket for tower
pulleys, belt, cage to cover belt
up/off/down toggle switch (not made by US Tower)
on/off key switch with set of 2 keys (not made by US Tower)
There is a little rust in a couple of places but not in any critical
areas. It should be able to be cleaned up easily. The wiring diagram
on the motor is wore off & I do not know if the motor has bn wired for
115 or 230 VAC. The prior owner doesn't remember either. The motor
works ok in my shack when plugged into 115 VAC but when I connect it to
the winch & try to start it under load with an extension cord plugged
into a wall outlet, the motor just hums. The winch turns ok by hand so
that's not the problem. I tried replacing the starting capacitor but
that didn't work. Due to the start-up surge, I believe this needs to be
hard wired into a separate circuit or it's wired for 220 VAC. In either
case, I don't hv the time or want to spend the money for an electrician
to figure it out. The MD-75 comes fm US Tower with a drum switch which I
do not hv. The previous owner had his electrician install instead the
toggle & key switches that are included.
US Tower sells the MD-75 new for over $1,000 & Amateur Electronic Supply
(AES) has it in their catalog for $998. I'm asking $250 + shipping.
Think it can go UPS although I may need to box up the motor & winch
assembly separately. Prefer pickup here in Southern California but will
ship CONUS.
Tnx for reading & 73,
Bob, K6PF
