Just to add depth to what Tim stated, that internet connection involves two T1
lines to handle the tremendous volume of traffic. Remember how some of you
complain because the system sometimes runs 'slow'? Well, without those T1 lines,
it would move dozens of times more slowly. You must sign a contract for three
years to get a T1 connection. Now that is quite a gamble on the part of Al
Waller, K3TKJ. He is obligated to pay, regardless of what we donate. He is
getting those lines to provide us with a hobby service, he is 'not' running a
business.
If you sell one item, or buy one item, a year because of just this list, you
get your money back.
If you ask one question a year and get valuable technical assistance, you get
your money back.
Many of you will complain when it all goes away, there is no such thing as a
free lunch. Skip one meal at a restaurant a year and send Al Waller a donation
to keep the qth.net/qsl.net systems operating. What he provides us is a
courtesy, not his obligation. We need to show that we appreciate it by donating
to the cause. So get busy guys/gals and send him some cash.

Donate to QSL by June 1st and get a chance to win 1 of 4 Yaesu VX-150 HT's.
$10 per chance, enter as many times as you like and help support your lists.

It's at the top so it's not so easily missed. I believe that this
"inconvenience" is relatively insignificant compared to having the entire
QSL.net system (including the email lists) disappear because of the lack of
funding by the people that use it. Besides, a $10 contribution for an
opportunity to win a $150 radio is a pretty good deal.
BTW, the reason Al "always want's money" is that it costs $1,600 a month just
for the Internet connection, and he doesn't even get enough contributions to
cover it. That's pretty sad, considering that there are about 400,000 users of
his systems.
