Hello.
I have an Ameco model PCL "Nuvistor" Preamp. For those not familiar with
it, this unit uses 2 Nuvistors (submini tubes) instead of transistors.
It seems (and what I've read confirms) that it outperforms the newer
solid state preamps as it is quieter and less overload prone. These tune
1.8 to 54 MHz and really perk up an older receiver, especially on 6
Meters!
This unit has two NEW Nuvistors installed and works well. It is in VERY
good cosmetic condition as the copper face is shiny with NO corrosion.
It gets it's power (6.3VAC and 125-250 VDC B+) from the receiver it is
used with and is presently wired with an 8 pin octal plug to fit a
Hallicrafters SX-71. If you need it I can assemble a small power supply
to run it, though it wouldn't be pretty. It is getting difficult to find
these in good condition and the Nuvistors are almost always bad when you
do find one.
What I need.
I need a good Audio CW filter and prefer one that has better than 100Hz
selectivity and adjustable frequency at least from 400Hz to 800 Hz.
Either analog OR DSP are fine (NO Radio Shack DSP's). Should drive a
speaker as well as headphones) MUST be in good condition, especially
elctrically.
Units I would take in trade.
1. Autek QF-1A (MUST be "A" model).
2. Timewave units.
3. Some MFJ and Vectronics units.
4. Some Heathkit units.
