Sorry for shotgunning this out to many reflectors, but I am urgently
trying to get a
typewriter (mill lol) such as I used many hours while copying CW in the
Navy,
I really don't care what make the mill is, just so long as it is the
communications type with all caps, and the stroked 0's (which for the
life of me I can;t figure out how to do on a computer.
The reason for this is quite simple, I am a traditionalist, and believe
that radiograms should be produced in the traditional manner, and that
is with a manual mill, in the 10 Orator typeface, and with stroked 0's.
I haven been trying, unsuccesfully to find one on that e-pay site, but
have had no joy. It seems that with the vast quantities of typewriters
which were produced in this configuration, there simply has to be some
available.
If you have one for sale or swap, or know of someone who does, I would
appreciate an email at either the one at the top of this message, or at
my arrl email addy

I realise that time does march on, and I have a perfectly capable
computer which probably can perform the same job as a manual mill, but
it just isn't the same. So if anyone knows where one may be obtained, I
would appreciate a reply. Incidentally, if someone knows where a stock
of these are located, I would also appreciate knowing this info, for I
am involved with the possible restoration of my old ship, the USS
America (CV-66) If our vets organization can save her from the breakers
torches. If we can get her as a museum ship, I wish to restore MainComm
and Radio Central to the configuration which it was in during the '60s,
and also restore the transmitter spaces, hopefully with the original
equipment, which then would be operated as an Amateur Station, the call
being a vanity one based on her International call of NMIB. I have no
Idea if we can save the ship, as we are now running against a monstrous
wave of red tape, problems, and foot dragging, but one always has to
have hope of a satisfactory conclusion,
For those interested, the website of our organization is
