FS: Henry 3006 6M Legal Limit+ Amplifier
This is the legendary Henry 3006, with an easy-to-drive Eimac 8877 tube.
It's in excellent condition, and will deliver 1,500 watts forever, due
to the tube and beefy power supply.
I've worked DXCC and WAS with this amp. I've worked JA, too - both
short path and long path!
The "CW/SSB" (high/low voltage) switch started to arc earlier this
year. After conferring with Laura the "Amp Lady", WB2YL, I chose to
simply bypass the switch. According to Laura, the switch is prone to
arcing, and is poorly designed, and has no purpose. Bypassing seemed
the most reasonable action, so I followed her advice. I also followed
Laura's additional advice by upgrading the power supply to higher value
bleeder resistors. This provides two benefits: 1) The transformer does
not make that massive "KLUNK!" sound from the inrush current, and 2) The
power supply runs MUCH cooler, since it's not dissipating nearly as much
heat. While I was in there, I replaced all of the resistor ceramic
standoff insulators, since a good number of them had cracks.
This is a great amp for 6M DXing, contesting, and JT65 EME work, since
it's capable of long key-down periods. Unfortunately, I have not gotten
around to trying JT65, and have no EME stories, but it's not due to the
lack of power.
Of course, I have pictures of the interior, exterior, and my updating
process - just ask.
Understand that Henry console amps are heavy duty, and they are that way
because they use BIG, HEAVY components. This amp weighs approximately
175 pounds. If you want to ship this amp, it's up to you to arrange it.
Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions, just send an e-mail,
and I'll answer it ASAP.

Steve
