Someone in another group pointed out a really NEAT
transmitter that you can build using the oparts inside a
"CFL" light bulb. I suppose, loosely speakling, this could
be considered a "tube rig" in a way, he he!
ARRL could come out with a new AWARD!! WASCFL,
or maybe even CFL100, or CFLDXCC - he he!
Anyway it's just a little two stage MOPA style, crystal-controlled
rig with an FET final. it develops 1.5 Watts of RF and the author
has included the schematic in a link at the top of the web page
article.
After all the dicussions we have had about CFLs over the
past couple of years, someone has finally found a better
use for these things... just lately I have seen the bulbs on
sale for about $2.00 each or so, in packs of 4 or 6 at the market.
Enjoy!
