--------------------------------------
Hi everyone,
The group of system operators that ran the Tier2 CWOP/APRS Internet Weather
reporting servers have shut down as of today.
They gave the rest of us running servers us a whole 2 hours of notice to
prepare for 3000 new connections.
The core APRS servers, to which I run "third" here locally out of three
servers, is available to pickup the load of these missing servers right now.
If you go to findu, using http://wx.findu.com/<yourcall> and find your data
is not being updated, then you need to act immediately to ensure your data
still makes it to the National Weather Service and Findu.
Check your programs settings you use to send your weather, and make sure to
put the following list of servers in your list, removing any others:
Put "first.aprs.net", "second.aprs.net", and "third.aprs.net" for your list
of available servers if you can take a list.
If you only have a option for one server, use "rotate.aprs.net", it goes
thru all three.
You'll want to use port 14580.... (not 23)
This only affects stations running weather stations on APRS/CWOP that are
NOT on 144.390 RF.
If you could please pass this along to every other local radio amateur lists
you can, please do, it's important we keep the weather data flowing.
Seeya,
Dave
