The HF bands are totally dead due to a solar event. The scope function on 
the Icom Pro 3, shows that if it were a cardiac patient, they just flat 
lined.

Amateur radio will how the flexibility, with vhf-uhf to get the messages 
out of the Katrina area in the interim.
