Subject: FW: [FLham] Section News(ARRL removing section news from QST)
Hello Frank,
I would like to voice my extreme disappointment with the announcement that
ARRL is planning to remove section news from QST. Without section news in
QST, they should be able to create a new membership that is lower in price
with out QST, since it will no longer be a way for ARRL sections to announce
and publish announcements and news. How many hams actually have computers in
their shack? Here is Lake county there are more people with out computers
that there are with computers, By doping section news from QST and placing
it on the net is going to alienate those hams with out computers. I
understand ARRL is in financial trouble, and this is why they want to drop
contest results and section news, but at the same time they are making QST
less valuable to ARRL members. The contest results can be moved to the
contest journal, but are they going to require each section to be
responsible to get out section news at section managers cost to those who do
not have a computer?
QST over the years has lost a lot of content and replaced it with
advertisements, upon removing section news and contest results, we should
all ask ARRL why they believe QST is a viable use of membership funds. I do
believe QST needs to be revamped, but removing the last few things that are
of interest to its membership is not a very smart move on their part. I hope
as section manager you will make my voice heard at ARRL headquarters.
Thank you,
Tom Tishken KD4WOV

Tom....
An email to Frank Butler-W4RH ([email protected]) is probably your most
effective means of voicing your opinion on this matter.
