I loaded Flexnet on my machine with the same goal [i.e. end user/sound card
interface] and had the same difficulties. I went through the same trouble
and ended up removing flexnet also - about a year ago now I think.
To expect people to get an old DOS machine for a single purpose when many of
us don't have the room for the computers we actually need for work etc is
quite funny. I certainly cannot afford that kind of waste so am not on
packet anymore. Anyway a DOS machine would not be able to interact with my
LAN - hardly a flexable network if I cannot connect to any other machine on
the network. The fact that the windows sound card drivers would not work
and apparently no one intends to address the issue makes it seem like many
end users are simply to be forgotten.
At least I still use my interface for SSTV.
