Members of the Sarasota Emergency Radio Club assisted in the MS Walk on
Saturday March 24.

2 meter simplex was used as the amateurs were deployed along the 2.5
mile course. Our objectives were met by reporting walker progress,
relaying information for logistics, protecting walker safety, and acting
in a professional manner for "Amateurs". Net control used a jump kit and
the portable antenna which worked out very impressively.

We could not of asked for better weather. Breakfast was provided by
First Watch and lunch by Crisper's. Ron now has a great recipe for
vegetarian sandwiches.

Over all 350 people walked for the cause and raised almost $70,000 to
find a cure.

I would like to thank the 6 amateur radio operators for their
assistance. It was a great event for me to learn what it takes to put a
communications plan together. Also like to thank my daughter (Nicole)
for coming with me and talking on the radio.
