Florida Governor's Hurricane Conference (FLGHC)
ESF-2 Communications Forum

Friday May 28, 2004   8:30 am until 2:00 pm

Admission is free.

The former amateur radio forum is being replaced with an expanded ESF-2 
communications forum for providers of all types of backup/auxiliary 
communications. This session is designed to provide emergency management 
personnel with an overview of the myriad of volunteer, local, state, and 
Federal backup/auxiliary communications systems available during disaster 
response and recovery.

Paul Reid is the Director of Marketing for Mobat USA, a manufacturer of
software-defined advanced HF voice and data radio systems. Mr. Reid is the
former Chief of Telecommunications Operations for the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA). Mr. Reid managed FEMA's worldwide HF radio
system-FEMA National Radio System (FNARS) and the Radio Amateur Civil
Emergency Service (RACES) program. Mr. Reid has served as an emergency
communications advisor to the White House for over 20 years and holds an
amateur radio operator license with the call sign of N4EKW.

Andy Murray is a communications technician with the State of Florida
Division of Forestry. Mr. Murray managed the development of the Mutual Aid
Communications (MAC) Unit 100-foot radio tower trailers deployed by the
Florida Fire Chief's Association throughout the state. Mr. Murray holds an
amateur radio operator license with the call sign of KG4DVD.

L. E. 'Bud' Thompson is a retired petrophysicist and is active in the 
Winlink 2000 (WL2K) E-mail over Ham Radio system and an advisor to the WL2K 
Development Team. Mr. Thompson is secretary treasurer of the Florida 
Amateur Digital Communications Association (FADCA) Mr. Thompson holds an 
amateur radio operator license with the call sign of N0IA.

All amateur radio operators are encouraged to attend this informative 
communications forum.

The State of Florida Division of Emergency Management's brand new 
state-of-the-art communications vehicle and the Mutual Aid Communications 
(MAC) Unit are on open and on display in the Tampa Convention Center 
parking lot.
