[FLARES] ARRL BOD Report on ARES

This is a good first step. ARRL HQ should consider developing minimum
criteria for these plans to keep everyone on the same sheet of
music...but not try to micromanage local ARES programs.

Florida DEM offers an Emergency Planning course. There are a couple of
courses on the training schedule at www.floridadisaster.org in the
Information section. These classes are offered at no cost and the state
will reimburse for lodging if you travel more than 50 miles from your
home city. Your county Emergency Management office can provide more
info and will forward the application to the state training officer.

Ron's posts today continue to be right on the money. The SERC should be
a model program for others to follow.

The bottom line for most emergency managers is knowing that a volunteer
group is well trained and can do the job they are asked to do when
asked.

Keith makes some good points here. We need to review the plans at
least yearly.

The BOD approved another agenda item that said each SEC wil develop a
Section Emergency Plan and submit it to the division director and HQ and
the plan shal be reveiwed, and revised if needed, annually.

It would be a good idea for all groups to review ops procedures,
emergency plans, MOUs, etc in October of each year. That's easy to
remember since the ARRL SETs are done in October.
