Indian River County ACS is at Level Two Alert as of 12:00 hours =
Wednesday, September 4, 2002.
Level Two Alert: Continue Monitoring. Tropical Storm Watch may be =
issued for Indian River County in the next 12 to 24 hours.=20
EVENT INFORMATION:=20
** RELEASE INFORMATION FROM IRCEOC**
Edouard continues to drift toward the east coast of Florida. Today, the =
outer bands of the storm look much better organized on the south and =
east side of the center. The attached radar picture shows the center =
approximately 50 miles east of Daytona Beach, Fl. It also shows the =
storm activity now developing near the center. The maximum sustained =
winds remain at 40mph and the Hurricane Hunter Aircraft found the =
central pressure rising this morning. Therefore, any further sustained =
wind intensification is not likely.
=20
The National Hurricane Center has expanded the watch and warning area. =
A Tropical Storm Watch has now been issued from Sebastian Inlet north to =
Titusville. A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect from Titusville =
north to Brunswick, Georgia. The watch was issued south to Sebastian =
Inlet in order to include all of Brevard County. Indian River County is =
not included in the Watch area. All of the thunderstorm activity =
remains well north of our area. Because the system remains a tropical =
storm, we can expect continued rough seas and possible beach erosion =
during high tide for the next 48 hours. These conditions will affect =
the entire east coast of Florida. Any rainfall this afternoon will be =
the result of sea breeze and not from the outer bands of Edouard.
=20
Hopefully, Edouard will move over land before any significant =
strengthening can occur. The center is now over the Gulf Stream and =
this tends to enhance tropical systems. If we have any severe weather =
moving into our area, I will update this message. Otherwise, the next =
message will be tomorrow.
