Hello friends,
A friend who has lost much mental capacity needs a frustration free
radio to use.
SSB push to talk and CW key to send are what's needed.
Because today's radio amateurs won't day and night bands, they say
they don't want or need a tuner, but they all do because they cannot
afford the real estate for 8 separate antennas for HF bands.
I came up with an ICOM IC-718 recommendation - but no antenna tuner
"easy" recommendation.
I know that it's all a compromise, I know that the little built-in
tuner that uses coax is a huge compromise because feeding a mismatched
antenna with coax leaves a lot to be desired.
I recommend traps to people but there are few trapped antennas these days.
Does anyone have a recommendation?
He doesn't care about narrow CW filter or noise reduction. He just
wants simple, and yes he will complain, but that's the nature of the
discomforting stage of life he has.
