Ring, Jr.) Date: Wed, 4 Apr 2018 14:39:12 -0400 Subject: [Fists] Easy Radio for Older Ham Message-ID: Hello friends, A friend who has lost much mental capacity needs a frustration free radio to use. SSB push to talk and CW key to send are what's needed. Because today's radio amateurs won't day and night bands, they say they don't want or need a tuner, but they all do because they cannot afford the real estate for 8 separate antennas for HF bands. I came up with an ICOM IC-718 recommendation - but no antenna tuner "easy" recommendation. I know that it's all a compromise, I know that the little built-in tuner that uses coax is a huge compromise because feeding a mismatched antenna with coax leaves a lot to be desired. I recommend traps to people but there are few trapped antennas these days. Does anyone have a recommendation? He doesn't care about narrow CW filter or noise reduction. He just wants simple, and yes he will complain, but that's the nature of the discomforting stage of life he has. 73 David N1EA From g3zodna at gmail.com Thu Apr 5 16:12:09 2018 From: g3zodna at gmail.com (Graham Smith) Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2018 21:12:09 +0100 Subject: [Fists] Welcome to new FISTS CW Club Members Message-ID: <002e01d3cd1a$611e5d20$235b1760$@gmail.com> We're very pleased to welcome our latest FISTS CW Club members: Diarmuid VK1FDHA 15224, Chang BX2AK 15262, Lee BX2AB 15263, Bo W4GHV 18541, Ian W9IAN 18542, Lee KV5M 18543, Robert K4BKC 18544, Craig KD2NSP 18545, John W4ZZY 18546, Hector W1DEA 18547, Ed KB7S 18548, John WA1QDX 18549, Pekka OH7GYN 18580, John G4SJY 18581, Andrew 9H4BA 18582, Andy DF1BV 18583, Nigel G8NYZ 18584, Matt 2E0LJZ 18585, David M6KSF 18586, Steve M6KLR 18587, Mark M0MRX 18588, Glyn G7UQN 18589, Julian M0JCE 18590, Tony G6MEW 18591, Phil G8HTW 18592, Matt M6XHX 18593, Mark M0LTG 18594, Petr OK1LIX 18595, Slade M6SQB 18596, John GSWL48 18597, Andreas DJ3EI 18598, Joe IK2WAD 18599, Los Alamos Arc http://laarc.weebly.com W5PDO 18600, Maynard KC1IXM 18601, Michael K9MB 18602, Stephen KC3ANQ 18603, Wayne KK6ZPL 18604, Joe KU5M 18605, Al KC1IVZ 18606, James AD0YO 18607, Alex KK6ZLY 18608, Jonathan KC4DEJ 18609, Joseph VE9OCR 18610, Manuel KC6ZSY 18611, Clarence K0JZ 18612, Thomas NS3U 18613, Howard AE0Z 18614, Ben K2CPU 18615, Ralph N4RLI 18616, John GW4LPB 18700, Grahame M0OSB 18701, Gavin G8XJR 18702, and Colin G4RTJ 18703.
