I?ve been calling CQ between 2200 and 2400 UTC and hearing no one but the NTS nets and a couple of guys rag chewing every nite. Do I have to stay up later? Get up earlier? I can hear nets in MN, WI, IA, OH, IN, AL, NC, & MI so the bands aren?t completely shutdown... Seems kind of late for 20 but I suppose I could checkout 30 meters..... I was sweating a lot by the time that first QSO was completed. I saved that QSO on a cassette tape. I still get excited making contacts but it's controllable now... and fun. Hang in there, take it as slow as you need to and just have fun... there's no rush. I'm not all that fast myself and still fumble the code although I strive for perfection. W6SFM On-Air BUG ROUNDUP - Starts Saturday May 20th 1400 UTC (7:00 AM Pacific LOCAL Time) through Sunday May 21st 1400 UTC (7:00 AM Pacific Local time) Objective: This 24-hour event is not a contest; rather it is a time dedicated to celebrating our CW and Bug key heritage. Participants are encouraged to get on the air and simply make enjoyable, conversational CW QSOs using a Bug style key as the sending instrument. There are no points scored in this event, and all who participate are winners. All current members, including youngsters, life members and those whose dues have been RECEIVED by 21:00 Z on Saturday, 20 May 2017 will be in the drawing for the Vibroplex Standard Vibrokeyer and Standard Iambic. This includes those paying via PayPal etc. The deadline to pay in person at Hamvention and qualify for these drawings to be held at Noon EDT Sunday is 11:30 AM Sunday, 21 May 2017. Only those current members who operate KN0WCW at Hamvention will be in the drawing for the beautiful Begali Blade straight key. Winners not present at the time of the drawing will have the key shipped to them. All of these keys will be in use at KN0WCW/8 at Hamvention. Other than that, they are brand new. This is a relaxed activity with minimum 5 minute QSOs.
