Hello FISTS,

There is another way around the "former member" problem in FISTS.  No dues.

This is what FISTS EA has done:  See message below from Nao JO3HP
describing what is done and what isn't done.  If FISTS EA has
eliminated dues, perhaps FISTS UK, FISTS Americas, and FISTS Down
Under might be able to.

They have eliminated the membership fee.  Everything is volunteer
anyways, and appeals for extra expenses can be made to the membership.

With a copy of OpenOffice, FISTS could produce PDF of the Keynote -
and postage free distribution for the majority of FISTS members.
Awards could be a pay as you go system.

Instantly if this were followed former FISTS become current FISTS.

This sounds like the granddaddy of all membership drives!

Hi folks, I show East Asia chapter case.

Basically, all our activity is open to non-member. We use not a
member-only mailing system but opened BBS. Everyone can read latest
issue of FEA Newsletter "morsEAsia" at FEA web site. I think modern
people (especially, young people) who are interested in our club try
to find information on Internet first. So opened, well administrated
and active web site is good advertisement for them to know our activity.

Membership charge is free since April 2006. For those who want a
beautiful paper membership certification, it is available at actual
cost. For under 18 years old, first issue of a paper membership
certification is free. Newsletter distribution is via Internet only.
We never send it as real paper. FEA QSL Bureau is available by Self
Addressed and Stamped Envelopes or Self Addressed Envelopes with IRCs
or green stamps. I'm sorry we don't publish any Award. All works
including web site rental charge is volunteer. A booth charge of Tokyo
Ham Fair is paid by donations from members. (We will open FEA booth
this year, too. Please visit if you come!)
