[Fists] What does CQ FISTS mean?

The band was very changable on 9/20, the day of your email.

I contacted one fellow from Michagan, he was 599 and when I turned it back  
to him after sending my
RST - he was just barely in there and then 20 seconds later he was  
completely gone.  If my turn around hadn't been quite quick, I would have  
had the same experience as you.

Such quick changable conditions do happen, but they are not common but  
they are more puzzling than sudden "SIDS" which are a result of solar  
disturbance of the ionosphere - which can take all the signals down quite  
quickly!  IF this happens the transceiver sounds like it has no antenna!
