[Fists] Question about J-38 refinishing.

I got an old tarnished key a couple months ago and buffed up the brass 
with a dremel tool and Brasso.  It's starting to look pretty good.

The key lever and the base are a soft, grey, non-magnetic metal.  The 
base is cast.  The lever looks stamped.

I'm thinking about grinding off the stamping and casting marks with a 
rotary diamond file in the Dremel.

Shaping the arm so that it's more tapered.  Finishing the surface.

What is the arm and base made of?  Zinc?  What can I do to improve the 
appearance?
