In many countries, especially CEPT countries, you must identify
with that countries prefix / your call. For example- MD/K8DD
In the Bahamas my license specified K8DD/C6A.
In Colombia we were told we could use HK1/ call or call /HK1.
It's not uniform throughout the world!
It's common practice here for mobiles on CW to use /M or /M#
for the call area. But /M and /M# is also the prefix for the UK,
even though the CEPT documents say to put the prefix first.
The rules do say: "No self-assigned indicator may conflict with
any other indicator specified by the FCC Rules or with any
prefix assigned to another country."
M/ or /M is the prefix for the UK.
/P - that's what they use in Europe do designate portable.
/QRP - I don't see any conflict with any other countries prefix.
/P and /Q, /QR, /QRP do not refer to any country prefixes. M is
one of the few that you can use without a number and have it
refer to operating in the UK.
But, as the saying goes - IANAL!
