FYI

Following received from R.N.A.R.S. : -
As you might know, England will host the Centenary World Scout Jamboree
this Summer. Well over 40,000 Scouts and Scouters from almost every single
country on Earth will join in the biggest Jamboree ever. From 28 July to
8 August this event will be held at Hyland Park, Chelmsford Essex. Of course
a Special Event station will be available. Some 30-40 amateurs from many
countries and all continents will operate GB100J in a 24/7 operation on all
bands and Echolink. We might even have a QSO with some extraterrestrials
as a QSO to theInternational Space Station has been applied for and approved!
(KYFC...).

In three weeks I'll fly to the UK to help set up the station, hopefuly there will
be a lot to do as we hope to have an antenna park at least equivalent to what
we had two years ago for the European Jamboree at the same location.
Unfortunately some of the antenna masts we were able to use then are now
unavailable. Some others promised have been cancelled only a short time ago.
We are therefore urgently looking for alternatives an perhaps members in
or around Essex might be able to help. Please read the message below from
Malcolm G4CXT and if you can help either contact him directly or drop me
a line.

Hopefully the GB100J station, aerials and band conditions will allow us to
make many QSOs worldwide. As far as I'm concerned I'll be quite happy to
work RNARS as well as I know I'm hardly ever on HF and you might want a
QSO with me towards RNARS, MARAC, ARMI, RIS or similar awards.

Apex of all Scouting Activities this Summer will be the Sunrise Ceremony
on 1 August, the day on which exactly 100 years ago Lord Baden Powell
started his first Boy Scout Camp on Browsea Island. Dozens of Special Event
Stations around the world will be QRV that day and thousands of Scouting
Groups worldwide will have local activities too. If you have any connections
to local Scouting groups please pass the word and invite them to have a QSO
with us. If normal license restrictions prohibit you from third party traffic you
could still QSO us on Echolink. When I'm QRV on Echoling using my own
callsign, no radio path would be involved and these restrictions would not
apply :-P .

More information on GB100J and the special Centennial award can be found
on www.scouting100award.org, as well as links to other scoutradio related
websites. The World Jamboree website is www.thejamboree.org.

Subject: [radio-scouting-uk] Urgently required for GB100J
Date: Thu, 21 Jun 2007 10:06:25 +0100

The GB100J radio station being set-up at the World Scout Jamboree site
is in urgent need of wind-up towers and antenna equipment in order to
get on the air at next month's event.

There were several potential sources of these initially but as its
getting closer to the event its becoming difficult to secure these for
one reason or another.

If you know the source of a mobile wind-up tower which can be
transported to Hylands Park in Essex in mid July please reply to this
message with further details.

Thanks

Malcolm - G4CXT
