Actually he mentions it is a dead language. It may not be a fully accurate
description but it makes more sense to me. I take that to mean like Latin, a
language that no longer has native speakers but is still very popular if
more specialized.
The article says "In some cases, an extinct language remains in use for
scientific, legal or ecclesiastical purposes. Sanskrit, Latin... are among
the many extinct languages used as sacred languages."
Hmmm... CW, a sacred language. Maybe we are CW Monks?
