Fellow FISTS
I've heard quite a few folks say it is hard to log the info for the WARC Band Challenge.
I use an Excel file. But I understand I can not attach a file to reflectors. So, I'll attempt
to describe the file below:
The items required for the log I put in indivdual columns:
A B C D E F G H
QRG Date Time Call FISTS # IARU Grid Points Mult
Using a 10 QSO list for an example:
A B C D E F G H I
1 QRG Date Time Call FISTS # IARU Grid Points Mult New
2 10.117 1/1/06 1544 K9FHJ NM EM53 1 0
3 10.119 1/7/06 0019 NU7T 4676 DM09 2 1 1
4 18.085 1/8/06 1338 SM5NZG NM JO89 1 0
5 18.085 1/8/06 2001 WA7UQE 6739 CN85 2 2 1
6 10.118 1/15/06 0217 WB4MED 10516 EL96 2 3 1
7 10.118 1/15/06 0217 N4KXG NM EL80 1 0
8 10.118 1/17/06 2234 K5DLE 5608 EM15 2 4 1
9 10.118 1/17/06 2247 W5GXV 11347 EL09 2 5 1
10 10.118 1/17/06 2255 KC0JKD 8481 EM38 2 6 1
11 18.080 1/18/06 1447 SP2US NM JO38 1 0

13 (Fx) (Fx) (Fx)

15
16 Points X Multiplier Score
17 (Fx) (Fx) (Fx)
In Block D13 - put in formula "=COUNTA(D2:D12)" which gives the number of QSO's to date - 10
In Block G13 - put in formula "=SUM(G2:G12)" - which gives the points to date - 16
In Block I13 - put in formula "=SUM(I2:I12)" - which gives the multipliers to date - 6
In Block D17 - put in formula "=G13" - which is the point total - 16
In Block F17 - put in formula "=I13" - which is the multiplier total - 6
In Block G17 - put in formula "=D17*F17" - which is the Score to date - 96
Then to log another contact, just <Insert a Row> and type in the data, the formula lines
are automatically moved down.
A very simple program indeed.
Rob likes to get Monthly reports from those who are in the Challenge. So, you just make
a separate file for each month, attach it to an Email and send it to: <m0bpt at blueyonder.co.uk>
If you'd like an Example, send me an Email and I'll send you the Excel file.
Don't let the logging requirement keep you from getting into the WARC Band Challenge. You'll
have a ball and will be amazed at where you can work on 30, 17 and 12 Meters. And since you
do get 1 point for contacts with non-members, you can promote FISTS during your QSO with
those folks.
This year I am going to really make it a Challenge for myself by making all contacts running QRP.
See you on the WARC's
