Properly, you would tell the station you called you were going to move your  
transmit frq closer to his if you had called him way off??? but then he might  
lose you if you are not strong (or he has lots of qrn that you don't) at his  
qth. It's one of those cases where what is proper might be 
counterproductive...  sometimes you can't win.    Sometimes you just carry on the qso  because 
you know if anybody bumps a dial, it's over.
