[Fists] Coast to Coast contest announcement

Hello again all FISTS,

I am pleased to announce the 2007 version of the C2C. This year we will hold
the event on Saturday September 29th for 24 hours beginning at 1700Z. That's
10am Pacific, 11am Mountain, 12pm Central and 1pm Eastern. The rules are the
same for individual fists members but there are changes in the scoring for
clubs. Please review the rules at http://www.fists.org/c2c.html In a
nutshell, clubs will no longer work other clubs. Remember, this is an event
to benefit fists members in obtaining 3 point qsos and it is toward that
goal that the rules have been changed. Besides, the club scoring was just
too confusing. Please do take a few minutes to review the club scoring and I
think you'll agree that they make more sense and will ultimately benefit the
members.

I have given a lot of thought to another issue. In the past, we have
encouraged clubs to register with the C2C manager (me) so that a roster of
clubs could be viewed at the C2C web site. #1, it doesn't appear that we
will have an official web site this year and #2, it got to be more work than
it was worth. Clubs on the air will be obvious by their calling "CQ C2C".
Just show up on the air and pound brass as fast as you can!

Please submit your logs within 30 days to me, preferably in text as an
attachment to an e-mail. Please do not send a paper log if you send an
e-mail log. Be sure to include the following information. Date, time, band,
callsign and exchange received in space delimited format. Cabrillo would be
even better as it is the defacto log protocol in most contests. The winners
will be announced sometime in late winter or early spring.

Hope to hear many of you on the air in late September.
