Thanks Nancy and all the contributors to the final 9/10 issue of the Keynote
for 2004, which arrived here today. It was all very enjoyable and
informative reading, even after seeing a lot of it here on the web. Every
time I read the Iambic Keying article, I get out the paddles and reset them
in some way.. none of mine keeping me very happy, but for the most part, it
is Me, not the Paddles, at fault. I like bugs too, although the two I now
own, both pretty ancient and mediocre, are very hard to get working right. I
love a bug and am in the market for a used one. See below.. The frost is
still on the punkin here, so the antenna supports are still not up..
"temporary" is a guarantee of finding the antenna in the snow, with the
winds that blow here, so nothing, not even a simple wire, is rigged yet.
Other than some new coax, which I can get in a few days, little is needed to
get the station back on the air. Each time I examine the
essentially-treeless situation, different options come to mind, so being
slow about this will likely pay off within a couple more months. I have a
nice multi-band wire antenna constructed, which is progress, although it is
coiled up here on the floor :-) .
73 to all, CU on the bands soon. Fred, NY2V, FISTS 1293.
The Classified Section
1. WTB - used Presentation or Blue Racer in top condition.
2. I also have a TS-440S/AT in super condx and a TS-570DG with a damaged
plexiglas faceplate (the rig works fine, but it needs a trip to a shop to
get a new faceplate installed). These two rigs will go dirt cheap, so if
seriously interested, let me know and I am sure we can come to an agreement
on price. << I have a TS-2000 which I like except for the tiny display, but
tiny is the keyword for the new digs here. The "shack" is now 3 feet wide
and shares with computer equipment next to it. I sold two snowblowers for a
song, so am in a bargaining mood. Catch me during the hamfest off season and
you won't regret it. >>
