John WB2EXI,

>From my reading of his email, John, W2AGN neither was for or against
shifting off of "058".

The original comment was from me which was being comment on was:

"I wonder if anyone can instruct FISTS members in how to contact on "058"
and then move off frequency to continue their contact."

I believe John was just expressing disappproval with the attitude of Larry,
K3LT's posting saying that he "would feel better about it if there were less
bigoted, misogynist whiners like you [Larry, K3LT] in it."

He didn't make a comment about "frequencies" at all except to compliment the
YL operator that Larry seemed to put down.

About "shifting off" frequencies after making a contact...

In radio services where there is a calling frequency, stations are to make
contact on the monitored frequency and shift off frequency. When this is
organized we in ham radio call it a "net", however many people don't seem to
understand this proceedure when it comes to a calling frequency.

It is an excellent proceedure, allowing anyone to monitor ONE frequency and
listen for calls, however, even though the ARRL has tried to impliment this
in the past, it likewise has not met with success, but I think it could in
FISTS.

Hey Guys:

I concur 100% with John W2AGN. With all the frequencies available why cry
about someone sticking on one?
