I wonder if anyone can instruct FISTS members in how to contact on "058" and
then move off frequency to continue their contact.

David:
This is a pipe dream. The problem is, there are too many geezers in their
70's and 80's on the FISTS frequencies, who have never "moved" to work a station
answering their call in their whole lives, and who aren't about to start
doing so now. Getting them to QSY after calling CQ and being answered would be
about as difficult as getting them to stop driving their Buick Roadmasters in
the left lane at 9 MPH below the speed limit! Until the people who do things
the same way they've always done things "just because that's the way we always
did it" are finally SK, we will have to put up with things like that certain
YL FISTS member in Florida who "runs" 14.058 all day long. The last time I
heard that was pretty much the last time I was active in FISTS. I've been
enjoying PSK-31 ever since. But don't feel bad -- the antics of the 10-10 group are
what put me off HF phone, and that was 10 years before I ever heard of FISTS!
FISTS members, with their VFO knobs welded on the .058's, their sloppy,
run-together, indecipherable sending, and their incessant number-crunching have
had pretty much the same effect on me as all the ex-CB'ers on 10-10.
Does anyone out there know of a group of REAL hams interested in preserving
CW and also capable of something resembling good radio operation while
on-the-air?
Not so fast, FISTS -- I wasn't talking about you!
