I always recommend to beginners that they learn on a straight key -- not a
keyer.
For sending practice I suggest that your student download the software
"CWGet," then feed his code practice oscillator output to his sound card.
CWGet is one of the better CW Readers. It is tolerant of good, steady
hand-sent code - but by that I mean almost machine perfect spacing & weight.
But it adapts to slight changes in speed pretty well compared to other
software I've seen. I have used this method to improve my Bug fist.
