[Fists] Some thoughts

Hello Karl;

You have put to words my thoughts about these problems
we are facing as amateur radio operators, whether
operating CW, SSB, PSK or any other legally licensed
mode of operation.

As you say, I believe that numbers count for
persuasive purposes. The more INDIVIDUALS that write
clear, concise and knowledgable comments the better
our chances for at least being heard and the correct
action being taken by the governing bodies to assure
that we will not have interference by BPL or any other
infringing body.

I do not pretend to think that we should NOT
collectively sign petitions promoting our cause.
Instead, I think that we should sign any and all
petitions that we can to help in our fight to retain
our spectrum, as we know it now, not the way the BPL
advocates want us to have it.

That includes writing concise letters and comments, as
you say, individually as well as collectively...And to
the correct authorities.

This is a fight that concerns ALL amateurs, not just
CW or SSB, etc. This is a fight we need to "Hang
together" with to win. All users of the amateur bands
are in the same boat. We all need to be on the same
side on this one.

We are like a family in so much as we can fight among
ourselves about how our spectrum is divided up, but
don't let an outsider do something to any one of us.
We will all pull together as one body to fend off the
intruder.

So in closing, if someone or some group of folks who
can write the kind of comments we are seeking, would
you please do, so the rest of us who are writer
disabled, can send the kind of comments that may get a
bit of attention for our cause?

We all are pretty much aware of the petitions and
PRM's which will/may affect CW testing and band
portions. And, collectively we are not happy.

What I have not seen is... rational and logical
arguments to counter these.

...I do not always have the time to check for every
PRM or petition ... Add to that, I am somewhat at a
loss to:
(1) formulate a good argument to counter a petition or
PRM,
(2) creating a proper response, and
(3) making sure I do everything necessary to correctly
email my comments.

Maybe someone on the Lists would be willing to help
the whole collective group out. We shouldn't have to
rely solely on FISTS or a few individuals to file
comments for us...A couple hundred or thousand
constructive and passionless comments would be better
to my way of thinking than just one from FISTS or a
dozen individuals.

So, I propose that the Lists keep us informed of
amateur radio and CW related petitions and PRM's. And,
that we use the forum to develop
productive arguments to counter them.

I am more than willing to put my name on a comment,
but maybe like many
others, I just need a little help to word it correctly
and jump through the
hoops to get it filed.
